The Lake District of Central Jutland has it all. Beautiful lakes, changing scenery, expansive forest, rare collections, exciting specialities, magnificent sailing trips, fun sports activities, wonderful sensory experiences and evocative moments. Welcome to the Lake District of Central Jutland and the largest contiguous forest in Denmark. Along with the incredible system of lakes, the countryside around Silkeborg and Skanderborg are made for an active outdoor life – which can be rounded off with a visit to one of the area’s many cosy eateries as the perfect end to the day.



There is something for everyone, regardless of age and interest. Visit Badeanstalten anno 1920 under Silkeborg Library and indulge in a steam bath, herbal bath, mud bath or salt bath in the nostalgic setting, go to AQUA, northern Europe’s largest freshwater aquarium, and/or rent a canoe, swim in the lakes and experience the nature from the River Gudenå, with an overnight stay at one of the pleasant campsites along the river.



Art and culture bloom all year round, with an array of exhibitions, concerts and performances. the Lake District of Central JutlandSilkeborg is located in the heart of Jutland and is an ideal base for trips and excursions, both on land and water on the River Gudenå.
