Thailand is a wonderful country, even though the prices have gone drastic up the later years. It has close to everything, from the Cosmopolis cities, Historic Places and Tribal Villages to great beaches and amazing nature.
The capital of Thailand is Krung Thep, or as we know it, Bangkok. it's one of the worlds fasting growing cities, today with a population over 8 million, or over 15 million if you count suburbs. It borders up With Myanmar, Laos, Cambodia and Malaysia. and there's things to do, and see from Chiang Rai in the north to Phuket in the south.
Unlike most of the other countries in south east asia, Thailand has never been colonized, if you do not count the short occupation under world war II. and has been independent since the early 13 century, when Pho Khun Bang Klang Hao, got the people to rebel against the Khmer, which also led to the decline of the great Khmer Empire, whose remains we today know as Cambodia.
Thailand reflects a high degree of political instability, alone in the last 15 years there's been 2 coup d'état, first one, in 2006, to overthrow democratically elected, Prime Minister Thaksin Shinawatra. In 2011 Thaksins sister Yingluck Shinawatra won a landslide victory on the election, but only sat as prime minister a few years till the Military again took control in 2014, and established a junta called the National Council for Peace and Order, to govern the nation.
Since then there has been no democratic election in Thailand.
