Vietnam, officially the Socialist Republic of Vietnam.
With an estimated 95.5 million inhabitants, as of 2018, which makes it the 15th most populous country in the world.
Vietnam borders to China in the north, Laos in the middle and Cambodia in the south, and has come a long way since the vietnam war, albeit there's still a long way to. The vietnam people emphasizes, that they are a socialist Country, not a
communist one, and the "common" people claims that President Clinton's visit in 2000, had a huge impact on the country, sliding a little more towards the west.
After North and South Vietnam were reunified under a unitary socialist government in 1976, the country totally isolated, both political and economically until 1986, when the Communist Party initiated a series of political and economic reforms that facilitated Vietnamese integration into world politics and the global economy. A result of these successful reforms, got Vietnam in a high GDP growth rate, consistently ranked among the fastest-growing countries in the world.
Nevertheless it's a great place to visit, from the more old fashioned Hanoi to the more western like Ho Chi Minh City. Unlike most of Asia, Vietnam is a rather unreligious country, a survey in 2007 found that 82% of the people do not believe in God, 12% are Buddhists and the rest is mainly Catholics. That doesn't mean there's not a bunch of religious sights, from pagodas to churches. I went on a trip with small boat, from Hanoi to Perfume Pagoda, in the mountains, its a trip worth doing. But there's many other great temples and pagodas in the country.
