I was born on May 3, 1991 in Skive, Denmark as Maiken Plougmann Rais. I grew up on the little island Mors in the Northwest of Jutland.
My interest in acting and me practicing it started when I was 6 years old and at the age of 9, I decided that I was going to be an actress. For most of the years, I was acting in school plays, and first, in 2012, I started in film and TV.
I started out as an extra, which is also the majority of my jobs in film and TV, however, it has also been to a few smaller parts now and then, among others, as a Patient in Morten BH’s feature film debut “Kolbøttefabrikken” from 2014. That was together with Paprika Steen, Mia Lyhne, Ole Boisen and Mick Øgendahl, and others on the cast list. I am very ambitious about my acting and wish to distance myself from the jobs as an extra and get more into the real acting work. It is hard work to get there but it’s worth it.
Besides film and TV, I’ve also done theater. For example, have I been in 2 C:TANCT plays at the Betty Nansen Theater (2012 & 2013) and I’ve been in The Musical Theater (in Danish: Musicalteatret)’s musical “We Paint The City Red: The Musical 2” (original: “Vi Maler Byen Rød: The Musical 2”) from 2018. I have also been part of The Board of The Musical Theatre. As of now, I'm working as a Customer Service Representative.
I’ve had private lessons from Danish actors Iben Dorner, Mia Lyhne, Michael Brostrup, and the director of the Play Theater Christina Sørensen, as a part of the preparations for the auditions at The Danish National School of Performing Arts. Unfortunately, I haven’t managed to get in yet, but in 2018 I got through to the second audition (out of three). I haven't auditioned for the Schools in years because I now believe, that my way into the business is another. However, I won't rule it out completely, that I might audition another time. I will keep fighting to achieve my biggest dream and ambition to become an actress.
In the summer of 2016, while living in the USA, I attended a 10-week introductory acting program at the Stella Adler Studio of Acting in Manhattan, New York City. Here I got lessons from, among others, Jon Korkes (Scene Study) and Deborah Kym (Acting Technique). Kym is beside her work as a teacher and also a Talent Manager in the USA.
On January 8, 2024, I had my Stand-up debut; 5 minutes at open Mic at Enghave Plads 9 with Thomas Warberg as host. Since then I have been out at several open mics, and on 19.06.24 I participated in the competition "De Nyeste Nye #18" (the newest new ones) at Lygten St.
